Driver backs over 3 at Concord voting site, 2 critically injured

CONCORD, N.C. — Three people were injured Tuesday morning when a woman driving a van backed into them in a church parking lot.

According to WSOC, emergency crews responded to Center United Methodist Church in Concord around 11 a.m. after a female driver of a Dodge van backed up at a high rate of speed and hit a silver Honda and three people in the parking lot.

Officers told WSOC that the three people were rushed to a local hospital. Two of the three people were critically injured.

The church was being used as a voting site and witnesses said one of the victims was a poll worker.

The woman driving the van was not injured. Officials said they do not believe the accident was intentional.

Concord police are continuing to investigate the accident.
