Helicopter from Fort Bragg crashes in New Mexico

OROGRANDE, N.M. — A helicopter that belongs to the 82nd Airborne Division from Fort Bragg has crashed at the Fort Bliss training area near Orogrande, New Mexico, according to a spokesman from Fort Bliss.

WTVD-TV reported that four crew members were on board the CH-47 Chinook when it crashed Saturday night during high-altitude, mountainous environmental training.

The Army is not releasing details about whether there were injuries among the people on board, pending notification of the crew members’ families. No one was hurt on the ground.

Investigators from the U.S. Army Combat Readiness Center from Fort Rucker are heading to the site.
