Motorcyclist killed after crash with car in Asheboro

ASHEBORO, N.C. – Asheboro police said a motorcyclist was killed after colliding with a car and being thrown off the motorcycle.

Police identified the victim as 55-year-old Larry Steven McLean. Officials said it happened around 8 a.m. Saturday on US 64 near the entrance to Village Plaza.

Police said McLean was riding a 2007 Harley Davidson on US 64. He tried turning left into the entrance of Village Plaza from the outside lane and collided with a 2012 Ford Fusion on the inside lane, police said.

The crash caused McLean to be thrown off the motorcycle, police said. He was airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center where he later died of his injuries, according to authorities.

The investigation is ongoing. Police said the driver of the Ford Fusion was not injured.
