National Weather Service reports 8 tornadoes in NC

The National Weather Service reports at least eight tornadoes touched down in North Carolina as the severe weather swept across the state.

Cumberland County emergency officials are investigating reports of a tornado in the eastern part of the county Tuesday.

The National Weather Service is also reporting that a tornado briefly touched down in Craven County, and a sighting was reported in Jones County. There were no reports of damages or injuries.

In Edgecombe County, the weather service said a roof was blown off a home and trees were toppled by an apparent tornado.
