CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) — A 3-year-old was critically shot in Fayetteville early Friday morning, according to authorities.

It happened around 3:30 a.m. in the 5700 block of Peele Street in Fayetteville.

Authorities said the child was struck after someone fired shots into the home where the boy was sleeping.

WTVD reports the boy is in critical condition at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Further details have not been released at this time.

The incident is under investigation.

    This is so sick and so sad. What is going on with people firing shots into homes? They never seem to follow up on these stories so you never know the reason why? Is it random, or are they looking for revenge…
