NEW YORK — A nanny fought off a woman who was trying to steal an 8-month-old boy in her care Monday in New York.

The attempting kidnapping happened around 3:45 the Chelsea neighborhood of New York.

According to WPIX, an unknown woman walked up to the nanny and tried to grab the stroller with the baby strapped inside.

The nanny reportedly refused to let go and screamed until someone came to her aid.

A delivery truck driver heard the nanny’s screams and helped scare away the would-be kidnapper.

Investigators think the woman may be a transient. Surveillance footage is being gathered to help identify the woman.
