EASLEY, S.C. — A 6-year-old boy accidentally shot and killed a woman in a moving car in Easley, South Carolina, according to police.

WSOC-TV reported that 22-year-old Alexandra Anita Santos of Easley died Thursday after being shot in the back as she sat in the front seat of a friend’s car.

Police said the friend’s 6-year-old son fired the gun through the seat, killing Santos. Officials said the boy found the loaded gun in the backseat of the car.

Maj. Tim Tollison said Easley investigators are trying to find out who owned the gun. Police have not released the name of the person driving the car.

The investigation is ongoing. No charges have been filed.

Some way someone is going to tie this into gun control when it should be about parental neglect or just bad parenting in general. (Parenting also meaning not leaving a loaded gun near a child in a car or anywhere for that matter.)

Justin, you are so rite…..neglect, we need to take care of the parental neglect ….and lay off the gun control…why would you put a kid in the back seat of a car with a gun….people are crazy and don’t care any more

Guns don’t kill people; people kill people. Being a right winger I say hang the boy and/or make sure all people carry guns as the NRA would back. That way the woman could shoot the boy. Or maybe they both could kill each other, then the NRA would say, “Fair game, both lost.” As a matter of fact I think we should have guns on seats of public transportation….just in case you know.

Guns aren’t the problem; people are the problem. Or kids for that matter.

Um, see, that’s why people want to “control” guns because some gun owners are irresponsible. Hundreds of injuries and deaths occur from kids shooting others. Remember, if the Newton shooters mother locked up her legally purchased guns….

Guns are not the problem irresponsible people are the problem. If you are so against guns because a person fired it upon another person maybe you should start walking everywhere, because automobiles are more dangerous than guns. I will keep my right to carry and defend myself. Make sure you put a sign in your yard that lets everyone know that you are for gun control, then criminals would rob you and no one will get shot (except maybe you because you think if gun control laws are put in place it will stop the violence, just like drug laws has stopped the spread of drug use)

We just need more guns!! I hate that poor woman in the front seat didn’t have one to defend herself against that hardened criminal six-year old in the back seat. If only there were more guns!

If a good gun had been there to shoot the bad gun before the child had found it, this wouldn’t have been a problem. I think we should handle ALL problems the way we handle gun violence and violent crime. See, we have a problem with gun violence and the answer is more guns. Similarly, we have a problem with people killing each other, so we kill people that kill. The answer is the problem. So, to counter cocaine addiction, we need more cocaine. To cure cancer, we need more cancer to give tumors cancer. I mean, what could possibly go wrong here?
