GASTON COUNTY, N.C. – A North Carolina man is accused of firing more than a dozen gunshots at a strip club after he was kicked out.

WSOC-TV reported that Mario Chavez, 33, of Mount Holly, faces various charges including 18 counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

Authorities said it happened outside the Leather & Lace club in Gastonia on Thursday night.

Bouncers forced the suspect to leave after he allegedly reached his hands inside a dancer’s underwear and slapped her on the hip, according to the Gaston Gazette.

Police said Chavez went to his truck, grabbed a gun and fired into the club until that gun jammed or ran out of ammo. He then allegedly got another gun.

The suspect allegedly got into his truck and fired two more shots as he drove away. Six shots went into the building. None of them hit the 18 people inside.

The strip club reportedly went into a panic, sending dancers and customers ducking for cover. Police said one of the bullets flew over two pool tables and in a sofa.

Chavez was booked into the Gaston County Jail under a $1 million bond early Friday morning.
