NEW YORK – A bench-clearing brawl broke out at a charity hockey game between New York City police and firefighters Sunday in Uniondale, NY.

The New York Post reported that the incident happened as referees struggled to control the bare-fisted fights between players during the game’s second period.

There were several black eyes and bruises, but no players appeared to be seriously injured, according to the paper.

The brawl led to a 25-minute delay before the NYPD went on to win the game in an 8-5 victory.
