ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — Police are searching for a suspect in connection with a Thursday night shooting and police chase near the Guilford County line.

Around 11:30 p.m., officers received an anonymous call saying the occupant or occupants of a vehicle were perusing and shooting at another vehicle on N.C. 62.

A short time later, a vehicle matching the general description of the suspect vehicle passed an Alamance County deputy executing an unrelated traffic stop along N.C. 62.

The deputy terminated the traffic stop and executed a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle. When the deputy exited his patrol car, the suspect vehicle sped off at a high rate of speed.

The deputy returned to his vehicle and pursued, but was unable to overtake the vehicle and did not regain sight of it.

A short time later, Burlington police were dispatched to a single vehicle accident on N.C. 62 where a vehicle had wrecked off the road. The wrecked vehicle was confirmed to be the suspect vehicle.

No driver was located at the scene of the crash.

The suspect vehicle was reported stolen from Durham on Friday morning.

No victim has come forward in the case. An investigation is ongoing.
