ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — Crews responded to an accident after a tractor trailer carrying cows flipped overnight in Rowan County.

According to WSOC, all of the cows stayed in the truck when it flipped around 3:30 a.m. on I-85 southbound, near Long Ferry Road.

Rescue crews had to free the 78-year-old driver from the truck. He was transported to the hospital and is expected to be OK.

Officials said 39 cows were in the truck and two of them died. The surviving cows were transferred to another trailer.

All lanes were back open around 5:30 a.m.

Troopers said no charges were filed against the driver.
