Lanes reopen after tanker truck overturns on westbound I-40/85 in Burlington

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Lanes reopened around midnight after a tanker truck overturned on westbound 1-40/I-85 in Alamance County Wednesday.

The Highway Patrol, Burlington Fire and Alamance County EMS are responded to the accident.

The driver was airlifted to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. He was listed in fair condition.

The tanker truck, owned by Hot-Z Transport, was carrying approximately 7600 gallons of ethanol when it overturned. Approximately 300 gallons of the product leaked from the tanker but has been contained.

Motorists are advised to take Exit 143, take a left onto Alamance Road, take a right onto Grand Oaks Boulevard and continue onto University Drive to return to I-85 South/I-40 East.
