Woman’s body found in Mount Airy home

MOUNT AIRY, N.C. – Mount Airy police said they’re investigating after a woman’s body was found at her home on Saturday night.

Police said they found the body of 57-year-old Darlene Tate at around 8:12 p.m. after responding to a reported shooting at 338 Austin Drive.

Police said the victim had a single gunshot wound to her torso and died after being taken to Wake Forest Medical Center by emergency workers.

The investigation is ongoing and no other information was immediately available.
