NWS: Strong winds could cause power outages

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The National Weather Service has issued advisories for central North Carolina and the foothills .

The NWS said that a deepening low pressure off the Mid-Atlantic Coast combined with high pressure building from the west will bring a prolonged period of strong winds through Sunday night.

Winds are predicted to be traveling from 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.

The strong winds could bring down weaker trees and cause isolated power outages, the NWS warned.

The high wind warning will remain in effect until 10 pm Sunday night.
