DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — Motorists should expect lane closures on Business 85 over the next few weeks while crews complete a project in Davidson County.

Work to improve Business 85, from just north of I-85 to just south of Salisbury Road in Davidson County is now underway.

Workers have started grading and clearing activities in the vicinity of the Green Needles Road exit and will soon begin shoulder reconstruction, according to the N.C. Department of Transportation.

Crews will also resurface and preserve the bridges on Business 85 over Swearing Creek.

The complete improvement project is expected to be done by June 16, 2015.

The posted speed limit in the work zone has been reduced to 55 mph and motorists exceeding this speed can result in a $250 penalty.

Good luck with a “few weeks” the bridge project on Bus I-85 near Davidson Community College has been going on for over a year to just replace two small bridges. And you wonder why our taxes are so high? This project should have been done in three months with the proper planning and equipment. Can you imagine if it took this long when they built the interstate system back in the 50’s and 60’s?
