Some areas could see some light snow mix with rain early Tuesday morning.
"Late tonight, after 5am and through 11am tomorrow, we have a chance for some light snow or a rain/snow mix," Meteorologist Van Denton said.
Soil temperatures are in the low to mid-40s, meaning most of the snow will melt once it hits the ground
"However, if there are any heavier bursts, it could overcome the relatively warm ground and create up to a half inch," Denton said.
The best chance for heavier bursts of snow will be to the north, near the Virginia line.
"Roadways should for the most part only get wet," Denton said. "Still, heavier burst can coat all areas with slush if it comes down hard enough and it is impossible to tell ahead of time where these burst will be if they happen at all."
Areas south of the Triad could see snow mix with rain, but the chance of rain increases to the south.
By noon on Tuesday, anything that falls should be rain and cloud will break by late afternoon and early evening. Total precipitation should average near 0.1".
"Temperatures will remain below normal for the next few days," Denton said. "Highs in the 40s through Wednesday and lows from the lower 30s tonight to the 20s tomorrow night and Wednesday night. We moderate at the end of the week and stay mild into early next week."
Our next chance for rain will be on Friday and Saturday.
