BURLINGTON, N.C. — Burlington police have arrested a man accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend.

Alex Carl Duffie, 25, of Durham, has been charged with second degree kidnapping and assault on a female.

Burlington police said they were called to the suspect’s ex-girlfriend’s home shortly before 5 a.m. Friday.

The suspect allegedly came to her home, started arguing and refused to leave. Police said the suspect would not allow his ex-girlfriend to leave.

When she tried leaving in her car, he allegedly took the vehicle over and drove off with her inside. Police said she was able to get into the driver’s seat and drove back home.

Police said the suspect was not there by the time they arrived. Police said they got a warrant and arrested him later that morning.

The suspect was arrested Friday morning and taken to Alamance County Jail, where he was being held without bond, according to police.
