North Carolina defeats Providence, 79-77

SAN ANTONIO — North Carolina has defeated Providence, 79-77, in the second round of the NCAA tournament.

The 6-seed Tar Heels were led by Marcus Paige, who put in 19 points to go along with one rebound and four assists.

12-seed Providence was led by Bryce Cotton, who scored 36 points.

The Tar Heels will take on the winner of the matchup between 3-seed Iowa State and 14-seed North Carolina Central on Sunday.
