GREENSBORO, N.C. -- As the cities of the Piedmont Triad continue to search for their marketing identities, one of them did something recently that might have gone unnoticed. But it could play a big role in the city becoming a destination.

Greensboro changed its ordinances surrounding microbreweries and brew pubs last month, and that may be a big first step to developing the kind of industry -- and downtown -- that will keep many of the young professionals here in the area.

    I don’t think young professionals take into consideration if there is a craft beer brewery in the neighborhood when making a decision as to where to live. I think job opportunity, housing, low crime would be 3 of the main items.
