SHOREVIEW, Minn. -- A Minnesota boy's dream came true after writing a letter to his sports idol Shaun White.

Jet Feirn, 9, wrote a letter to White 15 months ago because his mom told him he and the famous snowboarder were alike. Jet had to undergo heart surgery to correct a heart defect that White also had to have surgery for as a child.

In February, Jet still hadn't heard back from his idol and didn't understand why. KARE 11 did a story during the Olympics, highlighting the letter, hoping the message would reach white.

The message ultimately made it to White, and he wrote back in a big way.

Jet and his family went to a movie on Tuesday and when they got home there were big boxes on the front step, KARE 11 reported.

White had sent Jet an autographed snowboard, helmet, goggles, a backpack and a poster.

"To Jet, Rock on, Shaun White," Jet's idol wrote back to him.
