Lexington man charged with robbery, assault of 96-year-old woman

LEXINGTON, N.C. — Police have arrested a man in connection with the assault and robbery of a 96-year-old woman.

Officers responded to the Biscuit King, located at 231 N. Talbert Blvd., around 1:30 p.m. Friday in reference to a robbery.

The suspect allegedly grabbed a purse from the victim and assaulted her.

The victim was said to be transported to the Lexington Medical Center with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Robert Shaun McCoy, 30, of Lexington, was charged with common law robbery and aggravated assault on an elderly person.

McCoy was placed in the Davidson County Jail under a $150,000 secured bond.
