YADKIN COUNTY, N.C. — Yadkin County deputies have arrested a man accused of murdering his elderly mother.

Andy Eric Collins, 51, of Hamptonville, was arrested Thursday and charged with first degree murder in the death of 82-year-old Azelyne Emma Miller Collins.

Deputies said the victim was last seen by her family on Oct. 14, 2013, prompting a Silver Alert.

Investigators said the victim had attended the High Point Furniture Market, where she had a booth set up, on the day she went missing.

She was reportedly last seen driving her silver Honda van, leaving a restaurant in Hamptonville later that day.

Yadkin County authorities said the victim was found dead in her van on Oct. 16 in a heavily wooded area in Hamptonville.

The victim’s son lived a short distance from where her van was found and was arrested after being questioned by authorities, according to deputies.

The suspect was placed in the Yadkin County Jail with no bond.
