FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. -- A major connector between Germanton and Winston-Salem is completely blocked by a large tree that has fallen due to the high winds Wednesday night.

The power lines are still active, according to NCDOT officials. The road was expected to reopen at 9 a.m. but officials are waiting for Duke Energy and say it could be awhile.

Motorists should find an alternate route.

Power crews worked all weekend to get the power back on from last week's ice storm.

But after last night's thunderstorm and high winds, many people were left without power yet again.

Though power is being restored quickly today, outages are still scattered across the Piedmont.

According to the Duke Energy website, Forsyth County is reporting the most outages with 1,478, Guilford County has 916, Rockingham has 555, Davidson has 364, Stokes has 259, Surry has 599, Randolph has 78, and Alamance has 40.

These numbers will change throughout the day.
