Wake Forest defeats Notre Dame, 81-69

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Wake Forest defeated Notre Dame 81-69 Wednesday afternoon at the Greensboro Coliseum with some very hot shooting in the first round of the ACC Tournament.

The Demon Deacons (17-15, 6-12 ACC) shot 61 percent from the field, including 70 percent from three-point range.

Coron Williams led the way for Wake Forest, going 7-8 from the field with 25 points.

Pat Connaughton put up 19 points to go along with five rebounds and three assists in a losing effort for the Fighting Irish (15-17, 6-12 ACC).

The Demon Deacons advance to take on Pittsburgh (23-8, 11-7 ACC) tomorrow at 2 p.m.
