Statesville family safely escapes after tree falls on mobile home

STATESVILLE, N.C. — A Statesville family safely escaped after a tree crashed through their mobile home at around 6:15 a.m. Friday.

Accoding to WSOC, Tilisa Schuford said she was worried the trees around their home wouldn’t hold up so on Thursday night she asked her son to sleep in the living room.

It’s a decision that saved his life.

The tree crashed through his bedroom, landing on his bed.

Schuford lives in the home with her fiancé, two sons, daughter and 3-month-old grandson.

They all escaped the home safely through a window.

The family is now without a home, but the Red Cross is helping them. They only escaped with the clothes they were wearing.
