Randolph Co. man arrested in connection with series of armed robberies

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Police have arrested a man in connection with a series of armed robberies in multiple Piedmont counties.

Adrian Michael Polanco, 25, of Randleman, was charged eight counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon following a six-week investigation involving officers from the Asheboro, Burlington and Greensboro police departments.

One of the charges comes from Burlington with the other seven coming from Greensboro. Additional charges from other jurisdictions are pending.

Greensboro police say the first robbery occurred Jan. 20 at the BP located at 5600 West Friendly Ave., in Greensboro. The ensuing armed robberies occurred throughout the month of February at six other convenience stores in Greensboro and other convenience stores in both Burlington and Asheboro.

Investigations are continuing in an effort to connect additional incidents.

Burlington police say Polanco is currently being held at the Guilford County Jail under a $600,000 secured bond.
