HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — A 3-year-old Huntersville boy who was named an honorary firefighter earlier this month has died.

Carter Dang, who was referred to as “Super Carter,” had Stage 4 nueroblastoma.

The Huntersville Fire Department posted to its Facebook page Friday that Carter passed away at his home 2:50 p.m. Thursday following a brave battle.

According to WSOC, the community gathered on Feb. 8 for a ceremony to make him an honorary firefighter with the help from Huntersville Fire Station 2 and several neighbors.

Firefighters traveled in a convoy to his house and presented him with a fire helmet with a specially designed helmet shield, as well as an official Huntersville Fire Department badge.

Service arrangements for Carter are incomplete at the time.
