CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. — A teenager has been flown to a Charlotte hospital after being hit by a car Monday morning.

According to WSOC, 15-year-old Grayson Walker was struck by a car after running out into the road after his dog around 7:30 a.m.

Troopers say Walker was trying to get to his dog, who had just been hit by a car. Walker was thrown 70 feet into the air after being hit.

The accident, which happened on Fairwood Drive just off of Highway 321, was right in front of the teenager’s two brothers and mother.

Walker was flown to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Troopers are still investigating the accident and said charges are pending against the driver who hit Walker.

I know it’s not the drivers fault, But sometimes you have to be the defensive driver and really be cautious during the morning hours.
God Bless this young man and please lay your hands on him for healing! Prayers for his family after all this, and his dog too…

If charges are pending, then it WAS the drivers fault…If you see people or animals by the road (where his mother & 2 brothers were), then you slow down, it might have been a child in the road instead of a dog….

Oh, Dear God, please touch this young boy’s body, and help him to survive this horrible accident. Dear Lord, please be with his mother and his brothers, who saw this happen, and the whole family, as we all pray for YOUR healing touch upon him. A young boy’s love for his dog….My 17 year old grandson would do the same thing for his little dog, who means the world to him. This is so very sad, and my heart is literally breaking, for all who are involved, including the one who hit him. How devastating….

I live on this road and hope Mr. Walker makes a full and speedy recovery. It may or may not have been the driver’s fault. But people treat this road like it’s their own personal race track! It is really getting old seeing people fly by my house at 15 mph over and more. Would be really nice if the city of Lenoir and Hudson would put in a few speed hums to slow down the idiots.

Thoughts and prayers are certainly with Grayson and the entire Walker family. My parents live on this road and people fly up and down it, even with a speed limit of 35mph. SLOW DOWN! I’m sure this was an accident, probably an accident that could have been prevented by paying attention behind the wheel and not being in such an all fired hurry to get somewhere!

Is there an update on this young man, My heart breaks for his family and he has been in my thoughts and prayers since this was reported. I have a 15 year old and I could see him running to save our dog too, it hits very close to home for me…..thank you and i will continue to pray for him and the family.

I have lived on this road my entire life and the speed is horrible! People drive entirely too fast on this road. I have had cars slide through and flip through my yard ALL due to speed and the Sheriff’s Dept is the WORST of ALL, they treat this road like their own personal speed course!! SLOW DOWN, I have grand children that play outside!!
