Thomas Henderson, a WVDOH snow plow driver, was arrested on Wednesday a DUI charge while operating his plow in McDowell County.

WEST VIRGINIA — A snow plow driver is facing a DUI charge after deputies say he was driving the snow plow while drunk Wednesday night.

According to WOWK-TV, a deputy pulled over the snow plow at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in McDowell County because a headlight was out.

The deputy said when he spoke with the West Virginia Department of Highways driver, Thomas Keith Henderson, he could smell alcohol on Henderson’s breath.

Henderson then was given a field sobriety test, which deputies said he failed.

Henderson, 56, of Elkhorn was arrested and charged with DUI and defective equipment.

At the police department, Henderson was given a breathalyzer test which registered his Blood Alcohol Content at .09.

Deputies said that the legal limit for CDL operators is .04. That is half the legal limit for a standard drivers license, which is .08.

He was released on Thursday on a $500 bond.

Were those drinks worth your job? Everyone who is caught driving under the influence should have to do jail time.

I proudly call WV my home and I can assure you the people in WV are some of the best people you will ever meet. WV gets a lot of snow and there are times it accumulates fast. The driver was probably called out unexpectedly to work. This doesn’t justify driving under the influence at all but I’m sure he wasn’t out drinking on the job. As far as the arresting officers intelligence I can’t object to your opinion about him. He is an idiot. BTW, he’s originally from Statesville, NC.
