Crews work to fix broken pipe on Peters Creek Pkwy (WGHP)

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The inside lanes of Peters Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem are closed due to a broken water pipe that is causing icy conditions on the road.

Crews are working to repair the ruptured water pipe near Link Road, but the freezing temperatures have caused the water on the parkway to turn to ice.

The Department of Transportation and city crews are working to keep the area salted as they fix the pipe.

Motorists are asked to use extreme caution if traveling through the area, but to avoid it if possible.

The lanes are expected to reopen Friday morning.
