MARYLAND -- A mother in Maryland is accused of leaving her two children in the car for 90 minutes while she got her makeup done at the mall.

Deputies say it was 16 degrees outside.

Regina Marie Coleman is now charged with child neglect in the incident.

According to WUSA9, authorities say someone called police from the mall on Tuesday at 8:05 p.m. to report hearing children crying inside a Cadillac Escalade in the parking lot.

The person told police they could not see much because the car windows were heavily tinted.

When officers arrived they found a six-year-old girl and three-year-old girl inside the vehicle.

They were wearing coats, but authorities say the temperature was approximately 16 degrees.

Officers were able to find out the name of their mother and an announcement was made inside the mall.

Authorities say that the 28-year-old mother told officers she had been inside for 10 minutes looking for her wallet but officers noticed inconsistencies in her story and continued to investigate.

They later found out she had been in the store for more than 90 minutes, sitting at a makeup counter to get her makeup done. Officers also found her wallet inside her purse.

Authorities say the girls have been turned over to relatives.
