260 grams of heroin seized in arrest of NY fugitive in Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Police have arrested a fugitive from New York wanted on an outstanding federal supervised release violation warrant.

Tyron Keith Haskins, 31, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and the Winston-Salem Police Department at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Haskins was taken into custody at his residence in the 1000 block of West Bank Street.

Following a search of his residence, approximately 260 grams of heroin, 610 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, six firearms including assault-style firearms, assorted ammunition, magazines, holsters and approximately $180 in U.S. currency was seized.

“With regards to this investigation by the U.S. Marshals and the WSPD detectives, their combined efforts yielded one of the most significant seizures of heroin in this jurisdiction in the recent past,” said Winston-Salem police spokesman Lt. J.J. Edwards.

Lt. Edwards also noted that two of the six guns seized were stolen.

Formal charges, bond information, an upcoming court date and a mugshot were not released.
