Pinehurst man goes missing during dive in Cayman Islands

CAYMAN ISLANDS — A man from Pinehurst is missing after taking a diving trip in the Cayman Islands.

The Royal Cayman Island police say David Byles, 57, has been missing since Sunday morning.

They said Byles had surfaced with his wife and the two were swimming the roughly 100 yards back to the boat when he vanished from view.

An immediate search of the area by the boat’s crew failed to find him.

Divers have searched the sea and investigators have searched from the air. So far, only a scuba tank and a piece of clothing has been found,

Special divers arrived Tuesday to help with the search.
