North Carolina is reporting its first child death from the flu on Monday.

Authorities said it happened in the eastern part of the state, but names and locations are not being released to protect the family.

The infant was reportedly too young to get the vaccine.

Officials said 22 people have died in North Carolina so far this flu season and 19 were young and middle-aged adults.
