HIGH POINT, N.C. — Police arrested a man accused of running a marijuana growing operation and seized approximately 249 pounds of marijuana Wednesday afternoon.

Police say a growing operation was set up in three houses at 805, 807 and 809 Eastchester Drive. It was discovered around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The operation initially was discovered by a patrol officer investigating an unusual odor.

Jose Luis Ruiz, 39, of High Point, was charged with two counts of trafficking in marijuana.

He was confined in the Guilford County Jail under a $100,000 secured bond.

An investigation is ongoing.
