GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. -- Guilford County Commissioners are expected to decide Thursday whether to send a $250,000 contribution to the War Memorial Foundation in support of the Carolina Field of Honor at Triad Park.

Commissioner Bruce Davis tells FOX8’s Michael Spears that he put forth the proposal to ensure the project not only continues to run smoothly but also has future financial stability.

Construction on the $5 million Field of Honor veteran’s memorial broke ground last September at Triad Park.

The War Memorial Foundation, which raised the money for the project, says it will serve as a tribute to all service men and women who have fought for our country and include a 2,500 seat amphitheater.

If the $250,000 contribution is approved, Davis says the money will come from three different parks capital projects and no additional county money would be needed.

The Carolina Field of Honor is expected to be dedicated on Memorial Day.
