Girl hit by stray bullet while watching fireworks

SAN ANTONIO — A 9-year-old girl was hit by a stray bullet near her home while watching a New Year’s fireworks display, according to the San Antonio Express-News.

According to the report, the girl was hit in the buttocks by the bullet shortly after midnight on Wednesday.

Initially it was thought she had been hit by fireworks but it was later found to be a bullet fired by someone ringing in the New Year.

The girl was taken to an area hospital with a non-life threatening injury.
