Accident closes multiple lanes on I-85 in Guilford Co., lanes reopened

McLEANSVILLE, N.C. — All lanes of I-40/I-85 in eastern Guilford County have reopened after an early evening accident shut down three of the lanes heading to Raleigh.

The collision between an SUV and a passenger sedan injured at least two people.

The accident happened where I-40 and I-85 merge near Mount Hope Church Road around 7:20 p.m.

Victims were trapped inside the car they were riding in and had to be freed by first responders before they could to taken to an area hospital.

There is no word on how seriously those involved were injured.

    Does this mean they couldn’t be taken to the hospital WHILE they were still in the car???
