McLeansville man dies in single-vehicle crash in Greensboro

GREENSBORO — A McLeansville man died Monday morning after the car he was driving rolled into a creek off East Cone Boulevard in Greensboro.

Thomas Edward Combs Blackbeare, 48, was traveling westbound around 10:04 a.m. on East Cone Boulevard near Yanceyville Road when he lost control of his 2006 Chevrolet Equinox.

Police say he went off the road to the right and landed in a nearby creek, the vehicle was turned on its driver’s side.

Emergency crews extracted Blackbeare from the vehicle and he was pronounced dead at scene.

Blackbeare was the only person in the vehicle.

He is the 26th person to die in traffic crashes in Greensboro this year.

Cone Boulevard has reopened after the earlier accident.
