LEXINGTON, N.C. — Locals know Lexington is the place to go for barbecue, and now so does the entire nation.

USA Today has named the Lexington Barbecue Festival as one of the top 10 entertaining and prestigious barbecue festivals for 2013.

The event, which draws more than 100,000 people every year, has ranked number 10 on the list.

Memphis, Tenn. topped the list at number one.

I have just not been impressed with the festival. The last time I went a few years ago, it was just way too crowded. The other really surprising things was that I didn’t see a good representation of regional BBQ establishments. My favorite by far is BBQ Joe’s in High Point.

Probably the reason you didn’t see any regional BBQ establishments is because it is called the Lexington BBQ Festival…not central nc regional bbq festival. All of the restaurants are from LEXINGTON!

I guess that makes sense. I never heard anyone say that it was only BBQ from Lexington… I thought they called it the “Lexington BBQ Festival” because of where it is located. Honestly, (and I know I might start a riot saying this) there are better BBQ places to eat elsewhere. Sorry Lexington.
