7-year-old Georgia girl rescued after falling down well

CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. — A 7-year-old girl was rescued after falling approximately 40 to 50 feet down a well headfirst Monday afternoon, according to WSB-TV.

According to the report, Megan Winter suffered a broken hip, several broken bones in her face and bleeding on the brain.

It took approximately an hour and 10 minutes to rescue the girl.

Carroll County firefighter Lt. Clay Kierbow, the smallest firefighter on the scene, went down into the well to attach a the girl to a pulley system and lift her out.

Megan was transported to the Atlanta Children’s Hospital at Egleston, where friends and family are hoping for her to make a full recovery.
