MASSACHUSETTS -- Firefighters rescued a dog who fell through the ice and into the Charles River in Massachusetts on Sunday.

A woman was walking her golden retriever, Crosby, near the river when the dog tried to cross the ice and fell in.

Officials arrived after a frantic call from the owner who was trying to cross the ice herself.

Crosby was trapped by the ice about 50 yards offshore, but she swam towards firefighters and they were able to rescue her.

The dog was safely reunited with her owner.
