DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — One Piedmont woman spent Sunday delivering meals to more than two dozen families.

Amanda Requena, 42, wanted to help out her community of Southmont. So she teamed up with the Southmont Volunteer Fire Department to feed people all across Davidson County.

For those who could not attend the special dinner, food was delivered right to their homes.

“They’ve been very appreciative,” Requena said. “They just can’t thank us enough. We’ve delivered to people with illnesses.”

This is the first year for the Southmont event, but organizers said they hope to make it an annual event for the community.
