HIGH POINT, N.C. -- A parent in High Point is facing a misdemeanor charge after a child was left alone in a car Monday night.

Someone spotted the child in the car that was parked outside the Dollar Tree on Eastchester Drive between North Main Street and Johnson Street.

When the parent was located, officers were told that a 13-year-old sibling was supposed to be with the child in the car, but had left.

The child was not hurt in the incident, but the parent was still cited.

Officers have not released the identity of the parent.

How long has this station been in High Point, that store is several miles from Skeet Club rd. Need to spend some time in town rather than running to Greensboro for everything.

Until I read the posts I was wondering how I missed a dollar tree near Skeet Cub. I should have known that Fox8 would have it wrong.

With that said, what is wrong with these parents leaving their kids in cars while they shop. How hard is it to take your kid in with you? The article said parents as in “two”. So why could one not stay in the car while the other shopped if they did not want to take the kid in? Or even take turns. I don’t believe for a second that the older child was ever there.

I believe the parents had left a 13 yr old with the child. If there was a 13 yr left and he/she got out of the car and left the child alone I would bust their butt good for them. A 13 yr old knows better than that.
