WENTWORTH, N.C. — A Rockingham County man has been sentenced to serve prison time after failing to notify police of a change of address as a registered sex offender.

Chris Lamont Parker, 34, was sentenced to a minimum of 82 months in prison.

Parker is a registered sex offender, convicted twice of sex crimes that require his being placed on the N.C. Sex Offender Registry for the duration of his life. Notifying the local Sheriff’s Office of any change of address by someone on the Sex Offender Registry is required by law.

Deputies at the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office also routinely check to validate the addresses of offenders placed on the registry residing within the county. In this case, officers discovered that Parker was not living at the address he had on record.
