ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Someone is swiping packages off porches in Asheville in broad daylight.

According to police, the thefts have happened at least six times and three happened on Maywood Road in the past week.

Police think someone is following delivery drivers and swooping in to steal the parcels after they are dropped off.

One victim says it’s disturbing that people are doing this. But in her case, the thieves didn’t make off with anything expensive.

“My husband and I are going to an ugly Christmas sweater party. So they got one of those ugly Christmas sweaters,” said Kristin Compton.

If you have packages on order, police say it’s a good idea to either have them delivered to a neighbor who is home or to where you work.

Some people are also putting up a note asking delivery drivers to leave parcels on a side or back porch.

Get Security cameras people, they aren’t that expensive and can be easily concealed. I have them at my house that always monitor my front porch, 24/7. I also have dash cams in my car and my truck, the way people drive I think if more cars had cameras there would be less dumb drivers out there.
