GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. -- Police are working to protect children in the Piedmont from reckless drivers at school bus stops with Operation Stop Arm.
Last year, four children were killed at bus stops across North Carolina. That included one death in Forsyth County.
As part of Operation Stop Arm, officers with the Guilford County Sheriff's Office have stepped up patrols around bus stops, with some following buses and others waiting for calls to come in regarding stop arm violations.
"Between this and educating our drivers, we hope to be able reduce stop arm violations and the most important thing is to keep any child from being injured," said Guilford County Schools Director of Transportation Jeff Harris.
