JULIAN, N.C. -- Guilford County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating the burglary of the AP Food Mart in Julian.

Tuesday around 4 a.m. authorities said the front door gates were ripped off the building and the cash register and cigarette cartons taken from inside.

Major Jonathan Jacobs with the Guilford County Sheriff's Department said the burglars tied a chain to a stolen truck to remove the gate.

"There was a metal grate across the front door and it had been pulled off by what we found out was a stolen truck out of Burlington," Jacobs said. "We found the truck parked on the side of the road with the cash register drawer in the ditch."

According the crime analysis reports the break-in is the eighth burglary in the Julian area since Oct. 1.

Burglaries and break-ins for that district are however down nine percent for the year.
