WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Dave Clawson will be named Wake Forest’s head football coach Tuesday.

Clawson, the head coach at Bowling Green, will succeed Jim Grobe, according to a person familiar with the search who asked not to be identified.

Wake Forest chose Clawson over Pete Lembo of Ball State, the other finalist.

A media conference will be held to introduce Clawson on Tuesday, after which he plans to begin recruiting for Wake Forest.

Clawson, 46, is a native of Youngstown, N.Y., who has compiled a 90-80 record at Fordham, Richmond and Bowling Green. The Falcons are 10-3 this season and will play Pittsburgh in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl in Detroit on Dec. 26.

I was entering one of the Wake Forest football games this season with my Bowling Green stadium seats and I was stopped at the gates. I was told I could not enter because of the seats. The seats were of the old style heavy metal frame construction so I assumed that was the reason. Hmmm, maybe the football gods gave notice of bad karma- you are forbidden to enter the gates of Jim Grobe.
