Disaster response drill set for Thursday in Winston-Salem

FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — A hazardous materials disaster drill will be conducted Thursday, at PTIC (Piedmont Triad Industrial Complex) and several emergency vehicles will be on site.

The drill will be held at the complex, 90 Piedmont Industrial Drive, Winston-Salem, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday, Dec.12.

During this drill, large volumes of emergency response/public safety traffic and activity will be visible in the area, including helicopter operations.

There will be over 120 local, county, regional, state and National Guard responders engaged in the exercise.

Residents and businesses in the area should not be alarmed as this is a part of the exercise training.

The exercise will be focused on helping local, regional and state public safety agencies and responders better understand how they can respond to a large scale hazardous materials incident and other types of emergencies.

The exercise is not open to the general public.
